FIRECHEM Foam Maker (Model F-5) – High-Efficiency Tank Seal Protection

The FIRECHEM Foam Maker is a precision-engineered air-aspirating foam generator specifically designed for use in low-expansion foam systems.  It is the industry-standard solution for protecting the annular seal area of vertical liquid storage tanks equipped with internal floating roofs.  By delivering a stable, continuous blanket of aspirated foam exactly where it is needed, the Model F-5 effectively suppresses hazardous vapors and prevents ignition in one of the most fire-critical areas of a storage tank.

Advanced Engineering & Operating Principle

The FIRECHEM Foam Maker operates on the Venturi effect. As the foam solution passes through the unit’s specially designed inlet, it creates a high-velocity jet that induces air into the stream.

  • Controlled Air Aspiration: Air is drawn through openings protected by stainless steel mesh. This mesh is a critical safety feature that prevents obstruction from debris, insects, or nesting birds, ensuring consistent foam quality.
  • Precision Delivery: When used in combination with a foam pourer, the unit ensures a smooth, gentle, and uniform application of expanded foam. This minimizes fuel agitation, which is vital for maximizing extinguishing efficiency.
  • Field-Adjustable Performance: The unit features a field-replaceable orifice, allowing site engineers to easily adjust or replace the component to suit varying system design parameters and flow requirements.

FIRECHEM Hi Ex Foam Generators are used for total foam flooding inenclosed areas and also act as a powerful smoke extractor. They requireno other source of power such electricity or gasoline engines. They arepowered by the foam solution driving a hydraulics (water) motor. The expansion of the foam solution is achevied by spraying the solution onto astainless steel screen, and then an air stream created by the fan attachedto the motor forces air through the screen to produce a mass of foambubbles. The continuous flow of the foam solution and the movement of airthrough the screen will generate large volumes of foam.
